After a long and overdue cleaning session this morning I thought it a good time to capture some images
of the house.
From the library, a book about Kettles Yard. Discovered this wonderful home gallery that is now in the
loving care of Cambridge University. First discovered this house while admiring
the works of primitive painter, Alfred Wallis. There's a lot to admire about this house.
Jim and Helen Ede's approach to
the home as art and living space reflects many of my own ideas.
Recent creative endeavours have seen me making this simple incense dish, made of white clay to echo
the round shapes that are characteristic of my paintings. Its surface is enhanced with crushed granite and
the clay sealed with clear lacquer. The rim is shallow and undulating and the base gently slopes towards
the centre. With the addition of an incense stick, the whole is reminiscent of a coastal reed growing in a
sandy dune on some remote and wild shoreline.

Its been a wet summer, and although the day is set to reach 38 degrees, the temperatures have been kinder than is usual for this time of the year. As a result, the garden is flourishing and the plants obviously revel in the rain and heat.
The tomatoes are so sweet and juicy and we picked our first cobs of corn a few days ago. What a transformation this piece of land has seen over the course of the two years. Wee spirits are abundant now, injecting soul and atmosphere into this once depressing and lifeless block of land.

Brought in some dried branches bearing some lovely rusty brown coloured leaves and placed them in a
contrasting white enamel jug. The display looks pretty, and it will stay here until once again
this corner of my bedroom transforms into a stop motion studio next week.
More earthy brown hues to be observed in Edwins specialty - Apple Strudel. Here pictured with a dollop
of plant based flora cream.

Taking some time off study to catch up on some dressmaking.
Visit to Hanging Rock and Edgars Mission recently, the former providing inspiration in the making of this
Victorian style skirt. A linen sheet that was wearing out in the centre was salvaged - the unworn fabric
of decent quality put to use again. Furthermore, the entredeux lace I had stashed away for a decade
has finally seen the light of day.
