As readers of this blog will know by now, my sewing repertoire has a long history of using discarded fabrics. The latest discovery has been the zokin, or fukin as I would prefer, as the latter is known to be a quality cloth reserved for lighter cleaning, where as the former, I believe, is used for the hard grime of floors etc.
A very peaceful pastime it is too, just gently and quietly sewing. Using a quick running stitch through a few layers of old cotton or linen cloth, the outcome is a durable and strong dishcloth that has a pleasing aesthetic quality.
It’s 10pm. An unusually late post. Times are busy. More to come.
