natures blessings

Hanging the washing out on the clothes line this sunny autumn morning,  to the familiar sound of crackling berries falling to the ground. Only when I heard an unfamiliar voice did I closely inspect where the sound was coming from, and to my surprise, two new visitors appeared. Munching on the cotoneaster berries were two Gang Gang Cockatoos - one brightly coloured male and the other possibly a female or juvenile. This was very exciting for me and I rushed inside to grab the equipment responsible for these photographs. The birds were not at all perturbed by my presence, and allowed me within 2 metres of their selves.
The birds are listed as an endangered species, and ever more pertinent is the clearing of feeding habitat in  suburban areas as medium to high density housing development continues.
