A walk through Batemans Reserve this afternoon. Approximate time 5.30pm. Slight drizzle so sheltered
beneath a tree for five minutes and discovered an Orb Weaver above. Unperturbed by our presence, it deftly
captured a blow fly that entered its lair.
When the drizzle had eased, I moved on ahead and was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of about four or
five Eastern Grey Kangaroos. The last to retreat is seen here staring back at me.
The reserve is one of the largest intact valley heath forests in Melbourne and contains
many threatened plant species.
