25 August 2019

Yesterday was a tense day. I felt worried. Sick to the stomach . Horrified at what’s happening in the Amazon forests . If only the world would make a fuss like they did over the notre dame accident. Again, the leading causes - cattle farming and soy production to feed the cattle , but will society own up to the fact that a move away from these outdated industries is inevitable if we are to combat climate change? I doubt it. I can see that 1.5 degree increase in temperature looming, and at times it all seems so hopeless. What do we do, but continue on, responsibly, and just live for the day that is gifted us.

Whats growing?

Carrot tops, leek, bok choy, kumara, spring onions, celery and broccolli.
Off cuts from kitchen scraps, soon to be planted into the vege garden.

10 August 2019

So cold. Most of the day the temperature has  been sitting around 8 degrees.  There's also been snow in the dandenongs,
as an antarctic blast sweeps across Victoria.
I feel like I'm an occupant of Shackletons hut.
So cold, still breathing out condensation in the kitchen at 2 in the afternoon.
Meanwhile , in the only warm room of the house....

.....and this afternoon, the sun appeared....

vegan baking

Had a go at making vegan croissants this week.
Crisp  and flaky on the outside -warm, soft and light in texture on the inside.
Time consuming, but absolutely delicious.

Bon appetite!
