Dear little ringtail poss rescued from the pavement. Took him home and let him rest in a comfortable dark box and placed a saucer of water inside. A check up at the vet and all was fine. Released at nightfall....wondering how he is faring.

So pleased to get the old Singer running smoothly. To operate a machine dated back to the 1920's is such a special experience and the fact that this robust machine still runs effectively leaves me in admiration of the quality and craftsmanship of this time. The gentle persistent knocking of the treadle is soothing and the absence of electricity is calming. There is no danger as is with an electric operated machine, and the needle placement makes it easier to thread.

After a long and unsuccessful search for a belt stocked in Australia that was not leather, I had to succumb and order one listed on Etsy in the USA. The replacement was worth it all in the end, as the belt is far superior to the traditional belts in terms of performance and durability. Since the upgrade, I've been doing a fair bit of sewing and getting to know the Singer all the while. Started a mockup for an Edwardian style dress for Camille. Also completed a teapot cosy using remnants in my stash.

So, feeling very encouraged by all this, I decided to print out the missing pages of the manual via a pdf version online. I kept as much of the original content as possible and the booklet was then sewn together by hand.

This page would have to be my favorite.
