Flaming June by Frederick Leyton. Reproduced from: Google Arts and Culture.

On this lovely sunny day, I started the garment sewing for a client. The first of three designer t-shirts completed, I then went for a 45 minute walk around the streets, followed by some tasks around the house. A new addition to the living area is the timber shelf I built recently. Made from offcuts of timber supplied by my sons college, it does a great job of getting items off the floor, as well as displaying my plants. The star attraction though, are the Ranunculus flowers, given to the family by my sons girlfriend, Jo.

Quiet Sunday Afternoon

A new acquisition in the form of a vintage penguin book. Particularly fond of the polar exploration editions. This one a 1st edition, published in the 40's.

The satisfying beauty of whipped aquafaba and icing sugar.

The resulting custard slice and fluffy filling.

Todays test in paper relief for uni assignment is strangely familiar.

A chest of treasures from the deep.

Spent a few hours on the weekend restoring an old timber box. This box I purchased from an op shop years ago, and had painted it antique white to cover up the original ugly, dark stain. Only now have I felt the urge to restore it. Using vinegar I scrubbed off the white paint, and adjusted the height of the box, sawing the sides down to a depth that is more user friendly. Replaced the clasp and hinges,  then coated the wood with natural linseed oil. The beauty of the wood exposed again to the light of day.

Warm afternoon on the porch.
The cumquat mandarin tree is a rescue plant, and until we decide where to plant it, it resides here on the front porch.

Everyones out, so enjoying a quiet peaceful day at home today. Enjoying vegan pecan cake, while a polar bear watches me from the window.

Afternoon rain while on a walk, so sought shelter beneath a tree until it subsided. Now, the sun has reappeared, and all the leaves are glistening outside as I sit beside the window with my hot chocolate.
